IACB 2017 Conference - the biggest event in Romania dedicated to specialists and parents living with autism every day

International Conference IACB 2017, an event dedicated to Autism families and specialists, took place in Bucharest on October 27-29, bringing together more than 400 participants, in a warm and informative environment, humanity, understanding and resources , both for specialists and for parents who came to the event.

The conference, organized by AITA - Association for Therapeutic Intervention in Autism, brought to Bucharest parents, specialists, people with autism, representatives of NGOs from the country, 36 Romanian lecturers and 4 international lecturers, held over 3 days and discussing the therapies needed by people with autism, services, identifying needs, solutions, resources, in complex documented papers but bringing through the lecture approach both scientific evidence and emotion and, above all, inspiration.

The event started with the presentation of Daniela Gavankar, the scientific coordinator of the conference, and AITA president, who brought into discussion the alternatives of therapy available in Romania for children with autism, made an invitation to partnership to all those involved in the field and, above all, offered a different perspective on change. "Autism therapy does not imply a single approach, it does not have a universally valid solution, and sometimes finding the most appropriate approach is not easy. Having the right information about alternatives in education and therapy at the time you need them is an asset that parents can take advantage of when they understand that there are multiple approaches. When one or other of the approaches is inappropriate, there are other valuable options that can be considered. "

The conference, as a whole, has been thought of as a scientific manifestation, but also as an invitation to partnership, in which all those involved participate and can assert their point of view. It had a high degree of interactivity among all of the participants at the event, thus transforming a formal conference into a relaxed opportunity to ask questions, and an environment conducive to discussing personal experiences in life with autism.

Through her inspirational interventions, Ms. Gina Davies from Great Britain, a specialist with more than 20 years of experience in dealing with people with autism, has brought resources and hope to both parents and specialists in the field, with presentations with proven scientific results and very original demonstrations , generating a wave of sympathy among all participants. The central theme of his presentations was related to attention and how to increase the duration and stability of attention in children with autism, cooperation and, last but not least, the improvement of self-esteem and the general psychic state of children with autism.

Norwegian specialists Petter Naess and Gabriela Vilhelmsen addressed topics of great interest to those present about the involvement of all those around the child in the therapy of the child, the cooperation that should exist between educators, doctors, parents, specialists, neighbors, vendors, etc. for the benefit of the child and the family, about playing and socializing, and about parents' therapies, topics that are both expected by the families present and by the specialists present at the event.

All three days were filled with emotion, testimonies and testimonies of people with autism or families of autistic children who made the event a valuable one, focused on the real, authentic issues of autistic life.

The event was accredited by the College of Psychologists in Romania.
